Surya International, the flagship company of Group Surya, has announced a ₹80 crore ($9.6 million) investment to expand its manufacturing capacity for solar modules and energy storage batteries in Khurdha, Odisha.
The expansion builds upon the success of Surya International’s existing facility in Khurdha, which has been operational for two years. The project is expected to generate 769 new jobs and aligns with both the ‘Make in Odisha’ and ‘Make in India’ initiatives.
Kamlesh Kumar Singh, Managing Director of Surya Group, expressed enthusiasm about the expansion, emphasizing the company’s commitment to sustainability.
“With our existing Khurdha facility already playing a crucial role in strengthening our regional presence, we are excited to further expand our operations in Odisha. This ₹80 crore investment will significantly boost our manufacturing capacity for solar modules and energy storage batteries. According to Surya International, the initiative will enhance Odisha’s manufacturing capabilities, strengthen regional supply chains, and reduce reliance on imports while aligning with India’s renewable energy goals. The project also supports Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including SDG 9 (infrastructure and innovation), SDG 7 (clean energy), and SDG 8 (employment generation).
